Jeep Humor

Over the past couple of years I've visited hundreds of Jeep-related web sites and have read thousands of mail list messages.  After a while, you start to get tired of reading story after story on Jeep build-ups (I know I do).  I mean, there are only so many different bolt-on mods and accessories on the market.  And as far as I'm concerned, once you seen one Jeep with a 6" Rubicon Extreme Duty lift and 35" BFGs, you've seen 'em all!

On the other hand, I never get tired of reading about the seemingly unlimited amount of innovation and creativity that numerous Jeepers portray in building their rigs.   Another thing I thoroughly enjoy is reading funny stuff about Jeepin!  I've been gathering numerous anecdotes from a variety of sources and would like to share some of my favorite ones with you on this page.  Some of them, I have edited for length and clarity.

If you have any that you would like to recommend, please send 'em my way.  Also let me know who the original author is (if you know), so that I will be able to give proper credit.   Thanks, and I hope you enjoy your visit to my Jeep Humor page!  :-)  BTW, you might want to visit my Disclaimers Page also.  It won't be what you were expecting!

The Jeep Wave:  The Definitive Guide
bullet

This is one of the first  Jeep "funnies" I found when I started Jeepin; and it's still one of my favorites!  What's also funny, are the posts I see every now and then about people voicing their disagreement with the Jeep Waving Hierarchy (JWH), the Modifying Sub-Categories (MSCs), etc., etc.! They feel that all Jeepers should wave to all other Jeepers.  Uh, Hello!  It's supposed to be a humorous play on the Wave; so don't try to treat it otherwise.  Have fun with it!!

Really Cool Personalized Jeep/4x4 License Plates
bullet

Okay; most of these aren't really humorous at all, but this seemed the most appropriate page on my site to put them.   I got started on this list after Eric H. posted on the Jeep-L that he had just got his new WRNGLR plates for his TJ, and was wondering if any other L'ers had some cool plate names.  Some of the plates I've actually seen myself, and others were sent to me by various people through e-mail (thanks for the contributions). Many of them are quite creative!

Why Jeeps Are Better Than Women
bullet

This is one of my favorites.  If you knew my warped sense of humor, you'd understand why!  I read this somewhere over a year ago, and have been searching for it again ever since.  Well, I finally found it again.  So here it is.   I don't know who the original author is, but I tip my hat to him (or her)!

You Know You Have A Real Jeep (Are A Real Jeeper) If . . .
bullet

This was a thread started by Doug C. on the rec.autos.makers.jeep+willys newsgroup.  Over time, the list grew as newsgroup participants added their comments on how to tell the real Jeeps & Jeepers from the poseurs.

How to Change the Oil in Your Jeep . . .
bullet

I found this on the Jeep-L; posted by Johannes W.  I guess the reason this one is so funny to me is that . . .; well, I just can't tell you how many times I've been tempted to pull into Jiffy Lube for my next oil change!!  But I just can seem to get myself to do it.  I guess it's a "macho guy thing"!  ;-)

How to Remove the Cork From a Bottle of Wine
bullet

"RJ" posts to the Jeep-L:  "Help me please!!  I'm having a female over for dinner.  I remembered everything (flowers, candles, chocolates), except the corkscrew to take the cork out of the bottle of wine!!  Is there any other way to get the cork out by using something else?? Talk about "asking for it"!  Several L'ers replied with techniques ranging from the use of a screwdriver to a hand gun!!  But this is how I believe a Real Jeeper would tackle this situation (by David B.)!!

General Vehicle Maintenance
bullet

This isn't actually about a Jeep, but it easily could have been.   What it is, is an audio file of a telephone scam, played on a young lady by her father, with the help of a local radio station.  The young lady has her car in the shop for maintenance, and the mechanics find a few other "problems" with her vehicle.  Click here to listen (make sure your computer speakers are turned up).  Are there really people that are this gullible!?

Posted on the Jeep-L by Jeff S.  Those L'ers sure are creative, aren't they?

Jeepers Who Enjoy Winter Sports
bullet

Most Jeepers are also avid outdoorsmen & women, who enjoy hiking and camping in the summer, and skiing and/or snowboarding in the winter, for example.  As a snowboarder myself, my favorite winter sport often competes with my Jeepin activities.  I couldn't stop laughing at what this Oak Hill, West Virginia Jeeper posted on the Jeep Unlimited Wrangler Forum on the subject of winter sports preparation.

New Mexico Driving Rules
bullet

Unfortunately, not all Jeep driving can be done off-road.  You often have to drive on paved roads to and from the trailhead.  Some of us even have to drive our Jeeps in the city to and from work. People who do not live in the southwest U.S. often get the opportunity to visit the awesome trails out here such as those in Las Cruces or Farmington.  As a New Mexico resident, I feel obligated to inform those of you who may be traveling in our fine state of the local driving rules, which may differ somewhat from those in your state.  Sent to me by a co-worker;  author unknown.

How To Load A Truck Camper
bullet

This obviously isn't specifically about Jeeping, but I often combine camping with off-roading.  Properly loading a truck camper is an art, and it takes lots of practice to get it just right.  I've been "practicing" since I purchased my Lance Camper in Nov 2003, and I still have problems.  This write-up hits so close to home for those of you who own truck campers, you'll die laughing.  I don't know who authored it, so I apologize for not giving credit.  I found it on RV.net.

How Many Internet Mail List Subscribers Does It Take To Change A Light Bulb?
bullet

Okay; so this isn't actually "Jeep" humor, but I did find it on the Jeep-L, so that should count for something.  Anyway, it was a post by Jason G.  I don't know if he created it or if he got it from somewhere else.   But I laughed so hard, that I had to dry my tears several times before I could get through all of it!
